Remote Production
The definition of a Record Producer varies wildly across the industry. So I thought I’d take a minute to share what working with me looks like.
As a Producer working remotely, I’ll start by fully understanding what your style is, the music you like, and what you want your music to represent.
I’ll then work with your demo, going back and forth and making suggestions for changes, so you can alter and send me new demos.
I’ll help you define any weakness in your arrangements, transitions, layering/stacking choices, key and tempo issues, lyrical phrasing, and anything else that I may hear.
I may suggest some added parts for you to record, but just to be clear, I’m not here to write your whole song around your simple demo.
Of course you’ll always have full veto power, I always want to adhere to your vision for the song. I’m not here to force my perspective on your art.
When the demo is locked in, you record the final tracks. I’m happy to be on a video call at the studio while getting tones to help dial in great sounds.
After that, I’ll mix the whole thing.
Mixing
As a Mixer, I always want to get to know your music, styles, and preferences before we start
I’ll have you fill out a short pre-mix questionnaire to get a clear sense of your goals, both emotionally and sonically. That helps make sure we're on the same page from the start.
Once I send over the first mix, it’s often in a place where my clients feel good about it already, but I always leave room for adjustments. We'll hit some initial notes, then schedule a video call with high-res audio to go through feedback in real time. After that, you’ll have unlimited revisions, plus access to a simple online system where you can leave timestamped notes where I'll be able to reply to each one if needed.
Final delivery includes:
* Final mix - ready for mastering.
* TV/karaoke mix - with the lead vocal muted but backing vocals in; ideal for social media or live performances.
* Instrumental version - great for sync licensing or pre-release teasers.
* A cappella - so you’ve got options for remixes or alternate edits.
* Full Stems - (available on request) you’ll need these for sync placements and live performance backing tracks
Full Production with Recording
This is very similar to Remote Production above, but this is the full package that includes recording with me as well.
My personal studio is a mix suite and can not accommodate guests, so all of the recording is done at various studios. I’m happy to recommend some of my favorite rooms around Los Angeles, or travel to you and help find a great studio we can record at.
After we finish all the recording, I’ll work in my studio remotely for the rest, editing and mixing from there.
